France takes on Switzerland in their last Group A fixture of the UEFA Euro 2016 at Stade Pierre Mauroy on 19th June, Sunday. With both nations all but set to qualify for the knock-outs, it could be an interesting game as the managers decide to rest few of their top players.
France are on six points with two wins in two matches while Switzerland are on four points with a win against Albania followed by a 1-1 draw with Romania. While France need only one point to enter the knock-outs as group winners, Switzerland need a win to finish top of the group.
The fact that France left it late to secure a win in both their previous matches will make the Swiss side optimistic of their chances in tonight’s match.

Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann are likely to return to the starting line-up for France.
Switzerland Possible Starting Lineup: Yann Sommer, Stephan Lichsteiner, Fabian Schar, Johan Djourou, Ricardo Rodirguez, Granit Xhaka, Valon Behrami, Xherdan Shaqiri, Blerim Dzemaili, Admir Mehmedi, Breel Embolo.
France Possible Starting Lineup: Hugo Lloris, Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny, Adil Rami, Patrice Evra, Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante, Blaise Matuidi, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, Dimitri Payet.
Thoughts From Both Camps
“We want to show France that we can play football just as well as them. Yes, we might get a couple of opportunities from set pieces which we can take advantage of, but we also want to show them that we can play football.”
– Vladimir Petkovic, Switzerland.
“I could rotate things. All my players are available, but there are a number of different criteria to consider. I have to pick a team to make sure we secure top spot. That’s our aim.
We should have more freedom against Switzerland due to their style of play. Playing against an ultra-defensive side is very difficult. Switzerland have a team that like to play football so it might be an open game.”– Didier Deschamps, France.
