Barcelona fans were stunned after Lionel Messi submitted a transfer request although he has a contract until 2021.

Manchester City and PSG are on their toes should Messi leave Barcelona on a free transfer.

A clause on Messi’s contract stated that he could quit at the end of each season without compensation and he could join any football club for free.

However, Barcelona claimed that this clause has expired in June. If it is true, any club that wants to purchase Messi must activate the €700 million release clause.

Pep Guardiola and Sergio Agüero would be pleased to welcome six-time World Player of the Year to Manchester City as they seek to defend the Premier League title.

Elsewhere at France, Messi could reunite with his former teammate, Neymar, to form a lethal attacking force with Kylian Mbappe or Cavani.
