Arsenal vs Southampton – Arsenal hosts Southampton at the Emirates on 30th November, Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
Arsenal have had mixed results in the last couple of weeks – while they had to rally to secure 1-1 draws against Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, they won 3-1 against Bournemouth last Sunday to remain within touching distance of the summit of the English Premier League.
Arsenal won 2-0 against Reading during their last outing in the League Cup while Southampton defeated fellow English Premier League side Sunderland 1-0 to progress to the last eight. Southampton, in spite of injuries to a number of key players, are in decent form and will pose a tough challenge for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud Mathieu Debuchy, Hector Bellerin, Per Mertesacker, Danny Welbeck and Chuba Akpom are sidelined through injuries for Arsenal but Lucas Perez has returned to training.
Southampton have a lengthy list of absentees with Matt Targett, Jeremy Pied, Harrison Reed, Jake Hesketh and Alex McCarthy still nursing injuries. Dusan Tadic and Florin Gardos are expected to miss out as well but Steven Davis is likely to return to the starting eleven after missing the weekend’s match due to an illness.
