Qatar World Cup 2022 Predictions

Although it may seem a little early with the Qatar World Cup not starting until November, we have decided to put together our predictions now as the excitement for the biggest football tournament in the world is building momentum.

Global football competitions seem to be growing in popularity and views, which was noticeable with the Euros last summer. We expect the same for the World Cup but on a much larger scale, as eyes all over the world will be watching the drama unfold and praying for a World Cup triumph for their nation.

Bookmakers are already taking in football bets for whom they think will be victorious in the competition, with England looking like the team to beat after reaching the final of the Euros, only to be beaten by Italy on penalties. Luckily for England, that won’t be the case this time round after Italy suffered an embarrassing defeat to North Macedonia in the qualifiers.

Group Stages

Every team must compete in the group stage to land a spot in the knockouts. There will be teams that are looking at the group they’ve drawn with a huge grin on their faces, feeling confident that they can get the job done. Whereas for others, they may not be so convinced.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at our predictions:

Group A: Winner – Netherlands, Runner Up – Senegal

Group B: Winner – England, Runner Up – Wales

Group C: Winner – Argentina, Runner Up – Poland

Group D: Winner – France, Runner Up – Denmark

Group E: Winner – Spain, Runner Up – Germany

Group F: Winner – Belgium, Runner Up – Croatia

Group G: Winner – Brazil, Runner Up – Serbia

Group H: Winner – Portugal, Runner Up – Uruguay

Of course, there are still a couple qualifiers to be played to confirm the attendance of a few teams, however our predictions above are based on certain teams making it through the qualifiers and into the groups.

Knockouts

As we enter the knockout stages of the competition, the winners of each group will play the runners up of another group. Due to this, we expect most group winners to progress through the round of 16 and into the quarter finals.

Quarter Final Predictions:

Spain V Brazil – Both of these teams we predict will top their groups and then also win their round of 16 fixture.

Netherlands V Argentina – Both of these teams we predict will top their groups and progress through to the quarter finals.

Belgium V Portugal – This will be an exciting fixture if it were to be true. Belgium seem like a stronger team than Portugal who struggled in the qualifiers, however Portugal have a very good line up on paper.

France V England – Realistically, this should be the World Cup final, however there’s no way it can be with how the schedule of the draws works out. What a game this would be to really get up excited for the final. It’s almost impossible to predict how this game will go, if it were to happen.

From these fixtures, we have lined up our predictions for the remaining teams left in the semi final to be: Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, England.

Semi Final Predictions:

Spain V Netherlands – If these teams were to make it through the quarters then they would face each other in the semi final. This is a really good fixture with 2 very strong sides filled with young talent. However, we expect Spain to just have the extra quality needed to reach the final.

Belgium V England – This is also a very matched fixture. Both teams faced each other in the 2018 World Cup third place decider, in which Belgium won. However, that fixture really lacked excitement as neither side was really up for competing for third place after still feeling disappointed to be knocked out of the competition. This aside, our loyalties lie with England who we expect to make it to the final to face Spain.

World Cup Final Prediction:

Spain V England – What a fixture this would be. 2 teams that have disappointed in previous competitions and possibly been lucky to get through some games they did, but they have so much potential with their young stars gaining more and more experience with each competition. It’s such a difficult one to decide, but based on current performances of their squads, our Qatar World Cup 2022 winner is Spain.
