Southampton vs Liverpool – League Cup – Preview

Southampton will take on Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, Hampshire in the quarter-finals of the Football League Cup on Wednesday, December 2. The kops need a fourth consecutive victory to ensure the record winners of the League Cup make it to the semi-finals, the draw of which will be held right after their quarter-final fixture.

Team News

Ronald Koeman has an almost fully fit squad at his disposal, with only long-term absentees Fraser Forster, Florin Gardos and Jay Rodriguez missing though injuries. Jose Fonte, could join them on the sidelines after he was substituted during their 3-1 loss at the Etihad last Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to start Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge, after the pair returned from injuries on the weekend. Philippe Coutinho is also expected to be in contention for the match.
