Sneijder dumps Juventus out of Champions League

Wesley Sneijder was the hero for Galatasaray after scoring the winning goal against Juventus.

The 1-0 narrow victory is enough to eliminate Italy Serie A leaders and send the Turkey Super Lig club to Champions League last 16 knockout phase.

It was a match full of controversy due to the poor condition of the pitch at Turk Telekom Arena. The football match was halted on Tuesday due to heavy snow because the field were unplayable.

The match resumed last night despite repeated complaints from Juventus manager Antonio Conte. Several part of football field remains damaged and it was impossible to play normal football.

Even Galatasaray coach Roberto Mancini agreed that it was dangerous for the players and the match should be postponed further.

Unfortunately for Juventus, the match refereee Pedro Proenca refused to heed the advice of the managers.

Galatasaray was very lucky to progress as runner up for Group D and Real Madrid was the leader in that group.

Juventus would have to settle for UEFA Europa League for the remaining season.
