Six arrested for English football match-fixing scandal

The police have arrested three footballers and an agent to conduct an investigation on alleged match fixing of English football matches.

“Six men have been arrested across the country as part of an National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into alleged football match fixing,” said an NCA spokesman.

“The focus of the operation is a suspected international illegal betting syndicate.

It was reported that a match fixer told undercover reporters working for the British newspaper that the results of lower-league English games could be decided for 50,000 pounds and correctly predicted the outcome of three different games played by the same English team.

The team and arrested players cannot be named for legal reasons.

No English Premier League teams are involved in this probe.

The match fixer revealed that punters could use the insider tips to place bets with Asian bookies.
