English Championship club Middlesbrough have appointed former Real Madrid assistant Aitor Karanka as their new coach.

Karanka used to work with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013 season.

Tony Mowbray was sacked by Middlesbrough last month after a disappointing start in the season.

Middlesbrough are clearly struggling in English Championship at 16th place in the league table. If there is no improvement, they may face relegation to League One.

Karanka revealed that it was the Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, whom encouraged him to come to England and coach Middlesbrough.
