Bayern Munich team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt has resigned as an act of protest after he was made scapegoat for the defeat to Porto.

After serving almost 40 years at the Germany Bundesliga club, Muller-Wohlfahrt has decided to throw in the towel.

He reiterates that retirement is not the reason for leaving. Instead, he felt that the club does not trust him anymore.

Bayern were without several key players against Porto due to injury. They are Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger and David Alaba.

There have been rumours that Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola blamed Muller-Wohlfahrt for the lengthy injury list.

The mid-week Champions League defeat was the final nail in the coffin.
