Arsenal hosts Norwich City at the Emirates on 30th April, Saturday as the English Premier League enters its final phase of the season. With just three league fixtures remaining to be played, the Gunners would love to finish the season on a high, securing Champions League football for the next season in the process.
Arsenal are on the fourth position with sixty four points, behind Manchester City only on goal difference. Five points ahead of Manchester United, a win tomorrow will all but secure Arsenal’s position in the top four. However, with three draws in their last four matches, Arsene Wenger will take respite from the fact that most of his previously injured first-teamers have now regained match fitness.
Norwich City are on the eighteenth position with thirty one points and are in dire need for points to stay up in the top flight of English football. The Canaries are also dependent on Sunderland’s results to avoid relegation.
Team News
While Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still a week away from being match fit, Santi Cazorla is all set to return to the matchday squad. Alexander Tettey, Timm Klose and Andre Wisdom are sidelined through injuries for the visitors.
Arsenal Possible Starting Lineup: Petr Cech, Hector Bellerin, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck.
Norwich City Possible Starting Lineup: John Ruddy, Russell Martin, Ryan, Bennett, Sebastien Bassong, Martin Olsson, Nathan Redmond, Gary O’Neil, Jonny Howson, Robbie Brady, Steven Naismith, Dieumercy Mbokany.
Contributor’s Pick
According to Head-2-Head statistics, Arsenal have won three and lost only one of their previous six meetings with Norwich City. While Arsenal are undefeated in their last seven Premier League matches, Norwich have failed to win twenty five of their last twenty eight league fixtures.
In addition, Norwich City have failed to score in five of their last six away games in the league. Arsenal will start as favorites with a 2-0 win for the hosts being the most likely result.
“There are two leagues at the moment. The teams who are taking it a little bit easier – you see some games and you think you would like to play them now, the teams who are safe and are not going for Europe.
And then you have the teams who are going for something at the front and the teams who are fighting not to go down, and they are different games.”
– Arsene Wenger, Arsenal.
