With the sudden departure of Julen Lopetegui, Spain has lost a coach whom has bonded with the players and supporting staff since 2016.

Lopetegui became Spain manager following Vicente del Bosque’s retirement.

Spain won 14 of 20 football matches with Lopetegui in charge and drew the remaining six.

The dismissal meant that Francisco Hierro has been promoted from a sporting director to the new coach of Spain.

Hierro was a former Spain and Real Madrid player. He is familiar with many of the national team players, but we doubt he can convince pundits that Spain can make it to the World Cup 2018 final.
