Manchester United vs Southampton – English Premier League – Preview

Manchester United hosts Southampton at Old Trafford on 19th August, Friday in their second English Premier League fixture of the season. Manchester United made a winning start to their season and currently sit atop the league table owing to a superior goal difference.

Southampton, under new manager Claude Puel, drew their first game against Watford last weekend. One of the prime contenders for the English Premier League title this season, Manchester United will welcome back Paul Pogba who is all set to make an appearance tomorrow.

Jesse Lingaard and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are doubts but Jose Mourinho has his entire first-team squad available. Southampton will be without the injured Florin Gardos and Ryan Bertrand and the unfit Jose Fonte is a doubt.

According to Head-2-Head statistics, the last six meetings between these two clubs have resulted in two wins for either side and two draws. While Southampton are undefeated in their last seven Premier League matches, Manchester United have won seven out of their last eight league games at home..
