Chelsea Lead Race to Sign Wantaway Manchester United Attacker Alejandro Garnacho

Posted on by SoccerPunter

It would be hard to underplay just how horrific a season Manchester United endured in 2024/25, and therefore during the miserable run that took place under new manager Ruben Amorim (which was even worse than what came before during the tail end of Erik ten Hag’s reign), the fact that Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho was not a regular starter is a decision that was hard for most Old Trafford fans to fathom.

This was never clearer than Amorim’s decision to start with the young talent on the bench for their crucial UEFA Europa League Final clash with Tottenham. The fact that within a matter of minutes of his arrival as a sub, Garnacho forced Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario into action made that decision all the more unforgivable.

Garnacho and his representatives, then, forced the possibility of an exit by making it clear they were unhappy with the way Amorim had treated the 20-year-old, and it appears Chelsea are the side most keen on snapping up the attacker.

Blues fans who may feel that the capture of Garnacho, coupled with their side’s current attacking options, could see them push for major honours may want to bet on a strong 2025/26 campaign. If that’s the case, then this amazing BetMGM bonus code will make any bet a lot closer to risk-free.

Having led Chelsea back into the UEFA Champions League picture, boss Enzo Maresca appears to be armed with a big transfer budget and by all accounts, Garnacho is one of his top targets.

A push to boost their wide attacking options comes after Maresca opted against making the club’s loan move for Jadon Sancho a permanent one, meaning the England man went back to Manchester United.

Maresca has been very honest about the need to reinvigorate this area of his squad, stating on the matter.

“Jadon is not with us so for sure that is a position [winger] we need to do something,”

“We have Noni [Madueke], Pedro [Neto] and Ty [George] only as the proper wingers so something for sure is going to happen. When the transfer window is open, for sure, we can do something.” Maresca added.

High up on his wish-list, as well as Garnacho, is Borussia Dortmund’s 20-year-old English talent Jamie Gittens, though prolonged moves in the transfer window may well see the club sell first to balance the books.

This is on top of the fact that they have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich, among a number of other additions brought in ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Garnacho would no doubt be interested in a move to Chelsea, and his talent is not in question, though his consistency may well be. Despite the fact that he is still shy of his 21st birthday, he has already racked up 144 senior appearances for Manchester United and is a talent for the short, medium and long-term that will have no shortage of suitors.
