Will Frank Ribery win FIFA Ballon d’Or award?

France winger Franck Ribery is confident of winning he prestigious Ballon d’Or prize for the world’s best footballer of the year.

Last week, the 30-year-old Bayern München midfielder was named the best player in Europe by UEFA. His top performance has inspired his club to win the German Bundesliga 2012-2013 and Champions League 2012-2013 title.

Ribery will be playing for France this weekend in World Cup European zone qualifying Group I matches against Georgia.

Although Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or for the past four years, Ribery believes he is good enough to wrench it away from the diminutive forward.

“Of course I believe,” said Ribery from France’s World Cup qualifier training base near Paris.

“Last year I did what was needed on the pitch and off it, I was very professional. I enjoyed myself with my team, I took a lot of pleasure (and) I’m full of confidence.”
