Germany fought hard to equalize Paraguay in friendly

Despite going two goals down to Paraguay in the early first half, Germany did not give up fighting in front of their home fans although it is just an international friendly match.

Paraguay put two goals past German goalie M. Neuer after his defenders were caught napping. It was a wake-up call for Germany and they did not take long to equalize against the South Americans. I. Gündogan and T. Müller scored in the 18th and 31st minutes respectively.

Surprisingly, Paraguay had the last laugh by taking the lead just before the half-time whistle through M. Samudio.

It was not an easy match for Germany as Paraguay defended in numbers to deny an equalizer for the home team.However, resistance was futile and L. Bender fired a a shot outside penalty box to put Germany back on level terms. 

A draw appears to be a fair result, but Loew will want to see far fewer defensive errors when Germany host Austria in Munich on September 6, then travel to the Faroe Islands on September 10 in qualifying action.

Prior to this match with Paraguay, Germany had lost to United States in a friendly match in June.
