Gareth Bale omitted from Wales friendly match

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale will not be playing for Wales in the international friendly match against the Ireland Republic tomorrow.

Bale is still recovering from a foot injury and he has not played for Tottenham Hotspur in nearly a month.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas did not expect Gareth Bale to be fit for the English Premier League opening match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

It is understood that the Real Madrid target does not want to risk aggravating his injury that might ruin his world record transfer dreams.

Wales manager Chris Coleman said that Bale is happy to join the national team to train alone and he will be watching from the spectator stands during the friendly match against the Republic of Ireland.

Bale is the third player ruled out for the friendly against Ireland after Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and West Ham defender James Collins withdrew from the squad with ankle and knee injuries respectively.
