Liverpool vs Everton – English Premier League – Preview

Liverpool hosts Everton at Anfield on 20th April, Wednesday for their thirty-third English Premier League fixture of the season. A much awaited Merseyside derby, Liverpool are the favorites right from the onset considering Everton’s poor current form.

Liverpool are on the eighth position with fifty one points from fourteen wins while Everton are on the eleventh position courtesy forty one points from their nine wins. Should the Toffees manage to upset the Kops, Everton can challenge defending champions Chelsea for a place in the top half of the league table.

Everton have failed to win in the league since their 3-1 win over Aston Villa in the beginning of March, losing three and drawing three consecutively. A 1-1 draw against Southampton last week was a fair result for Roberto Martnez’s side but they have to improve by miles when they take on Liverpool, who defeated AFC Bournemouth last week.

Team News

Jordan Henderson, Joseph Gomez, Danny Ings, Christian Benteke, Emre Can and Kolo Toure are sidelined through injuries for Liverpool while Divock Origi has been listed as a doubt.

Seamus Coleman, Tony Hibbert and Tyias Browning are the confirmed absentees for Roberto Martinez but Tom Cleverley, Phil Jagielka, Aaron Lennon and Leighton Baines are doubtful as well.

According to Head-2-Head statistics, Liverpool have won only one of their previous six league encounters with Everton, the remaining five ending in draws. In fact, Liverpool have drawn six of their last seven games against Everton in all competitions.
