Singtel to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2014 to Singapore fans

Singapore football fans will be able to catch all the FIFA World Cup 2014 matches ‘Live’ on TV.

Singtel has put pen to paper with FIFA to bring World Cup matches closer to Singaporeans. It will be available on both TV, tablets and smartphones through Mio TV GO app.

Existing Singtel Mio TV customers will enjoy free coverage of World Cup matches if they commit to a new 2 years contract on football channels that include England Premier League, Spain Primera Division, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and more.

Singaporeans would be disappointed to know that World Cup 2014 TV package costs about 20 percent more than in 2010.

However, fans can take solace that the World Cup opening match, semi-finals and the final will be available through free-to-air coverage Mediacorp Channel 5.

2014 FIFA World Cup will take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014. It is a prestigious international tournament that is awarded every four years.

England, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands are some of the countries in Europe to qualify for this year World Cup tournament.

Brazil soccer matches typically kick off at the wee hours of Singapore time zone, between 3.00am to 8.00am in the early morning. Unfortunately this kick-off time does not favour Asians unless they are willing to sacrifice their sleep. This behavior may affect their work productivity and we might see an increased in employees taking medical leaves during the World Cup month.
