Arsenal may have beaten Everton 3-1 on the final day of the Premier League season, but it wasn’t enough for them to continue their streak of Champions League qualifications. Instead they will have to settle for the Europa League next season, leaving just the FA Cup Final as their last beacon of hope for a marginally successful campaign.

Fortunately for them they are coming into the game in good shape. Their victory at the Emirates on Sunday made it five wins on the bounce, with them scoring an impressive 13 goals in that period too. Unfortunately, they’re coming up against an even more impressive looking side.

Chelsea rounded off their Premier League winning season with a 5-1 battering of Sunderland to make it seven wins in a row in all competitions. The first of these wins was their 4-2 win over Spurs in the FA Cup semi final, and since then they have racked up a further 20 goals in just six matches.

Antonio Conte has seen his defence falter a bit more in the closing stages of the season though, keeping just three clean sheets in their last 12 matches in all competitions and conceding a total of 15 goals during this period. Coming up against an in form Arsenal attack on Saturday it’s likely they will concede again.

The bookmakers are heavily favouring the Premier League champions though, and it’s with good reason. Arsenal are without the suspended Laurent Koscielny for the final and could also be missing Gabriel Paulista from the back line. The Gunners have had defensive issues of their own this season, and without their best centre back it’s going to be difficult to keep the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard at bay.

To make matters worse for Arsenal, history is working against them. Of the last 20 FA Cup Finals, the team that finished higher in the league that season has lifted the trophy 17 times, with 13 of those being decided in normal time. The odds are stacking in Chelsea favour here, and we’re inclined to agree with the bookies’ predictions.

There is more value to be had here though. With Arsenal’s defence suffering from selection issues and both teams in such good attacking form we’re expecting a high scoring affair. Ten of Chelsea’s last 12 outings in all competitions have seen at least three goals, as have three of their five FA Cup clashes so far this season.

Arsenal have seen at least three goals in three of their five FA Cup games too, so backing Chelsea to Win and Over 2.5 Goals at 8/5 looks a great value bet. We’re going for that alongside a 3-1 correct score predictions at 12/1.

As far as our anytime goalscorer predictions go, it’s hard to ignore Diego Costa. The Chelsea striker has bagged 21 goals for Chelsea this season and has the ability to terrorise a weakened Arsenal defence, so odds of 5/6 for him to find the net look good value.
